When were Reading founded?

Reading FC was founded on December 25, 1871.
The club was formed by Joseph Edward Sydenham alongside a group of young townsmen at the Bridge Street Rooms. This makes The Royals one of the oldest professional football teams in England.

Reading Football Club has never officially changed its name and has been known as Reading F.C. since its establishment in 1871.
