Wolves: The main, widely used nickname and a direct shortening of Wolverhampton.
The Wanderers: Stemming from their original 1879 name, highlighting the club’s origin from a merger with a cricket team of the same name.
The Old Gold: Derived from the club’s traditional gold shirts and black shorts, representing their official colors.
Molineux Stadium has been the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers FC since 1889, with the capacity to seat more than 30,000 supporters.
When first founded the club used a field on Goldthorn Hill in the Blakenhall area as its home, which could accommodate some 2,000 spectators. In 1879 they relocated to John Harper’s Field on Lower Villiers Street where they remained for two years before a short move to Dudley Road, with the new ground situated opposite the Fighting Cocks Inn.
