Birmingham City – Interesting Facts
Birmingham City FC was founded in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance. The club later changed its name to Small Heath in 1888, to Birmingham FC in 1905.

The Blues: The main, long-standing nickname.
Small Heath / Small Heath Alliance: Reflects the club’s origins and early name before becoming Birmingham FC.
The Heathens: Derived from the original “Small Heath Alliance” name, often used in early historical contexts.
Bluenoses: Specifically refers to the club’s passionate supporters.
Muntz Street (1877–1906): Known originally as Coventry Road, it served as their home for nearly 30 years before becoming too small for their needs.
St. Andrew’s (1906–Present): Located in Bordesley, it was opened on December 26, 1906, and has been the home of the club for over a century.
Future Plans: As of November 2025, the club has unveiled designs for a new, 62,000-capacity stadium (“The Powerhouse”) as part of a major regeneration project.
