AFC Bournemouth is primarily nicknamed “The Cherries,” a moniker established around 1910 due to the team’s cherry-red striped shirts and the location of their Dean Court stadium, which was adjacent to the Cooper-Dean estate’s extensive cherry orchards. The name reflects both the club’s traditional kit color and the local geography of the time.
AFC Bournemouth’s stadium has been known primarily as Dean Court since 1910, named after the benefactor J.E. Cooper-Dean. The ground was completely rebuilt in 2001, and due to sponsorship, it has had several names: Fitness First Stadium (2001–2011), Seward Stadium (2011–2012), Goldsands Stadium (2012–2015), and currently, Vitality Stadium since July 2015.
